About the Character

For my character I was thinking of creating a robot. At first I thought of creating a mean robot or an angry robot but then as I progressed I shifted towards the opposite side. Then I started to create an innocent and harmless robot.

I started off my making a mean and angry robot.
In image you see I have tried to make an angry robot with red eyes, eyebrows are placed in a way it looks as if he is bad and evil. I added a black band behind his eyes as a sensor. Gave it a mouth that I thought would open if the robot talks. The head was a circle so I thought would be best to give the character a round body. If you notice the character has a stick attached to his bottom that then connects to the base plate that has tires. So when he walks his tires would essentially spin. I started creating it in Photoshop and illustrator and then imported the to Cinema4D.
In C4D I start to play around with the sphere, cube and cone and try constructing its body. But then after a while I changed my mind.

Then I created another robot idea in Photoshop. This time instead of a circle I chose to create it with squares. This robot seems to be more calm, sweet and innocent than the previous character. If you notice carefully in the 2D design and the 3D design there is a lot of gap between the objects. That is because the body parts are suppose to be floating but stick together by the force provided by the robot.
My Final Character
The story is that a robot is set in early 2010's where a scientist has created a robot for his home that hoovers and cleans the house. Since he is a robot he is suppose to be super smart. The reason why all the blocks are not touching each other and are sort of floating because that's a new technology that keeps all the body parts in on place without touching. There is a force that keeps them there without touching any other body parts. So what happens is that he at home and one day he comes up with a cure for ebola. The creator of the robot is surprised and publishes the robot's research and cures ebola.

Since this character doesn't walk as he doesn't have legs he sort of floats and he leans forward when he is going forward and the arms tend to lean a little behind due to force. In C4d I have used fillet on the objects section to add the curve and smoothness to the objects and added few texture. The main texture that is applied to the body is plastic.

How this animation is made is all the objects are a part of 1 object. Animation is added to the whole object which sort of leans forward as he walks and going to individual objects under the main object, the arms sort of lean back because of the force it receives while going forward.
